The idea for wpFortify came from a need at a non-profit I volunteer for. At the time we were needing to expand our donation system to accept payments from different sources.
While this would normally be not a problem with Stripes API, we quickly ran into issues. Spinning up a new server with SSL support was not cost effective, and other third party solutions had fees on top of Stripes that just didn’t make sense.
Mid 2013 I came up with the a simple checkout solution that allowed for server to server communication with AES encryption, and this allowed me to have a single server with SSL to do the credit card processing for all our sites.
Today that simple solution is wpFortify.
wpFortify was founded by Brian Ross.
Brian has been working on the web for the last 15 years. In 2010 he decided to focus entirely on developing with WordPress, and hasn’t looked back.
